Almost 10 years after the US Department of State ran a competition to select the architect of the new American Embassy, the building is finally set to open in January 2018.

Rising over 213 feet with 12 stories, the cube structure wears a veil of sculptural smocking on three of its four sides and contains over 500,00 square feet of space. The strategically positioned building was designed by Philadelphia based architecture firm KieranTimberlake and is located half a mile south of the UK’s government’s Palace of Westminster on the opposite bank of the Thames; it will be replacing the current embassy in Grosvenor Square.
