Thornton Tomasetti extends congratulations to Lloyd’s of London CEO, Inga Beale who last month was awarded a Damehood for services to the economy. This is a fantastic achievement for Inga, Lloyd’s, and for diversity in the industry.

What is a Dame?

Awards Intelligence defines Damehood as ‘an award given by The Queen to an individual for a major, long-term contribution in any activity, usually at a national or international level. It is one of the highest possible honours that can be received by an individual.’

Why is this significant to T2?

At Thornton Tomasetti, we sponsor and strongly support Women in Claims, and were therefore delighted to hear Beale’s news (as reported in City A.M.) and the inspirational impact it should have on WIC and professional women’s groups generally

According to City A.M., Inga Beale said:

“Lloyd’s represents so much of what is good about British business and the insurance sector in particular. This honour is a reflection of the work and commitment of everyone who works within the Lloyd’s market – enabling others to take risks that enable society to progress.”

She went on to say, “I am also incredibly proud of the work that we are doing to encourage diversity. When I think back to what the workplace was like thirty years ago, we have come a long way on our journey to become a truly modern, global and inclusive sector.”
